Where recycled EVA comes from
The main stream is post-industrial recycling: clean production offcuts, die-cutting waste and trim from foam factories, reground and re-foamed into new sheets. Because the input material is a single known polymer with no contamination, post-industrial recycled EVA achieves performance close to virgin foam. Post-consumer EVA (from used shoes and mats) exists but is harder to keep clean and consistent — most certified flooring-grade recycled EVA today is post-industrial.
What GRS certification actually verifies
GRS (Global Recycled Standard) is not a self-declaration. It verifies: the percentage of recycled content in the product, a documented chain of custody from waste stream to finished tile, and environmental and social processing requirements along the way.
